• Thinking for yourself is the hardest thing ever
• Because you are tempted to seek approval from others
• But most people are wrong, and controlled by others’ approval
  • Others’ approval is very important, but it costs us the ability to think for ourselves
• Countless ideas are laughed at by everyone, from Airbnb, to Dropbox
  • Airbnb: why would anyone rent airbed?

  • Netflix: initially renting DVDs online
• There was a startup I low key laughed at, payable.id
  • They got YC funding, I thought that’s not a good business cause Xendit is absolutely dominating (also a YC company)
  • I was still right tho, they pivoted to SuperAI and govisa
  • What I was wrong big time was thinking that they will fail and give up, instead of pivoting and gaining a lot of users
• I underestimated the power of pivoting and keep grinding
